Martin Hines 1946 - 2011

The Patron of Karting Legends passed away at the age of 64 on Sunday 28th August 2011.

Martin was a serious competitive driver in karting and won 17 titles including FIA World Championship in 1983, 91 and 92 - 5 European titles and 6 British titles.

Known as Mr Karting he developed the very successful Zip Kart Business in gearbox and direct drive karts
Martin had Talent not just as a driver but as a mentor and used that talent to mentor several British leading racing drivers. His kind of help for young drivers over the years was outstanding for guidance and equipment even down to putting his hand in his pocket to help drivers along their way. He gave so much help to make motor sport what it is today and the sport has lost one of its most experienced, Helpful and passionate men you could wish for. It has been a privilege to have had Martin as The Patron of Karting Legends - You will be sadly missed by us all.
